Happy Tails - Aiden/ now Dooney
We adopted Dooney (f.k.a. Aiden) nearly 8 months ago, in August 2008, when he was about 19 weeks old. Having lost our loving, very passive,13 year old lab 4 months prior, we hadn't planned on adopting a puppy, however, after a whim to just go and visit "Aiden", Taylor and I fell in love. In addition to his heartbreaking story - having been abandoned a defenseless tiny puppy at only 3 months old, and then to have contracted Parvo, which, if it weren't for his wonderful Foster family, would have killed him - he was sweet as he could be, playful, but well behaved, with a squirrly "mohawk" of curly hair down his back, there was just something special about him. Dooney quickly became a special part of our family, that has helped to fill the empty space our old friend left behind, with love and affection, and lots of laughter at his intelligent antics. Dooney is VERY intelligent, learning commands quickly, picking out the specific toy you asked him to retrieve, and learning to bring us his leash when he wants to go out. Dooney also LOVES the water, and we can't wait to take him with us on our vacation to the beach this year! Now a year old, he still has much to learn, but we are enjoying every minute of it. We couldn't thank the wonderful people at Lab Rescue enough, for their generosity, their love and compassion, and dedication to all of these wonderful creatures that our lives could not as full without.
